In 2011studies, the years of Darius are what we are, with joy, following at the present time. The command to work by God is given to all believers as 2013-2014 (Nisan to Nisan) is the mirror of the 2nd year of Darius. The command to work to bring the gospel is now center stage. Even into the 3rd year and onward of Darius’ years, this command continues by God. Keep in mind though that the rebuilding of the temple was in Darius’ six year which is our 2018! More video studies on this topic are on the Youtube channel called 2011studies (one word).
Since the last video review of 2011 and onward, which was posted December of 2013, questions have arisen concerning the wall of Jerusalem and Nehemiah’s rebuilding of the ruin. How does that relate to the six years of Darius since the house of God was completed in the sixth year of Darius? I want to present something which may give some insight to the rebuilding of Jerusalem:
Nehemiah petitioned King Artaxerxes concerning the ruins of Jerusalem.
The place where Nehemiah’s fathers were buried was still in ruin. The King granted free passage to Nehemiah to go observe his homeland. Nehemiah was the king’s cupbearer. This entire event began as he brought the king his cup and the king noticed the sadness of Nehemiah. Nehemiah places a request to the King that he would like to be allowed to go to Judah unto the city of his father’s burial place and repair the damages. Nehemiah was given a set time to go and requested two things of the King.
- He wanted safe passage and letters sent forth before him to allow for safe passage until he reached Judah.
- He also wanted a letter to go to Asaph who was keeper of the kings forest. Nehemiah was requesting this for wood/timber for the gates of the palace which led to the house, for the wall of the city, and also for Nehemiah’s personal house to dwell in while the building/repair took place.
This conversation with the King took place in the 20th year of King Artaxerxes. There are three kings mentioned which related to the rebuilding of God’s House and the wall.
Ezra 6:14: And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.
- Cyrus first issued the decree to build the house after the 70-year captivity of Israel (Ezra 5:13).
- Opposition came and the work was halted until the second year of Darius (Ezra 4:24).
- Ezra was given permission by Artaxerxes to go up from Babylon to Jerusalem to establish the law and to teach statutes and judgments. This was in the 7th year of Artaxerxes (Ezra 7).
- Nehemiah petitioned King Artaxerxes to go to Jerusalem and examine the damage. This was in the 20th year of Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2).
With this information we can know that: From Ezra going to Jerusalem to establish the law in the 7th year of Artaxerxes unto Nehemiah arriving at Jerusalem in the 5th month of the 20th year of Artaxerxes, there is a period of 13 years.
In 2011studies we have been carefully going through the years of Darius since these six years historically began according the accession year system once God gave the Babylonian kingdom to the Mede and Persian. We have seen how the 6th year of Darius falls within the year 2018 in the month Adar. This is when the temple rebuilding was completed.
Now a question has been raised concerning the rebuilding of Nehemiah’s wall since that appears to be historically past the 6th year of Darius. Should we be concerned that it was in the fifth month of the 20th year of King Artaxerxes that Nehemiah petitioned the king to go to Jerusalem and examine the damage?
Everything in the Bible is there for our instruction and coming to understanding with God’s help. There are times in which God does not follow history precisely in a set order. We learned this with the Great Affliction of this final seven years-2011 to 2018. Historically, that came before Israel’s captivity. Joseph and Jacob’s account in Egypt came before the 70-year captivity of Israel. Yet, at the time of the end, God places the 8,400 days of tribulation, which mirrors the 840 months of Israel’s captivity, from 1988 to 2011. Then the Great Tribulation of 7-years comes immediately after the 8,400 days and goes from 2011 to 2018.
Matthew 24:21: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
This allowed for the time of rebuilding to come after the 8,400 days. The spiritual aspect is that God continues to save the “living stones” who worldwide make up the house of God past the 8,400 days which ended May 21, 2011,
1 Peter 2:5: Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Unto the Coming of The Lord
We also have seen how Elijah’s 3 ½ years of no rain fits the first part of the final 7-year period. Elijah prayed again and God gave the rain. This really lines up with Jesus proclaiming that the time of Great Tribulation will be shortened for the sake of the Elect. This is great news since we are reaching a duplication of Pentecost in the year 2015. For the remaining 3 1/2 years God and His Word will be magnified in a great way. Matthew 24 not only speaks of the shortening of the Great Tribulation but also the latter half where the Gospel goes into all the world as a witness unto the nations then the end will come. Christ is coming in power and great glory 7007 years past the flood in 4990 BC. We have learned that the reason 7,000 years past the flood (2011) was not the timing of His powerful coming on the last day because God is longsuffering not willing that any would perish (2 Peter 3). Jesus makes known that He has shortened the days of Great Tribulation for those whom He plans to save.
Matthew 24:22: And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
This truth matches the fact that Satan is only given a time, times and half or 3 ½ years to fulfilled the last end of the indignation. Since Jezebel historically was pursuing Elijah and with her husband Ahab, as she brought false worship to Samaria, I suspect that this “great tribulation” would be affecting the fallen houses of God where false worship is taking place. The warning by Christ to the church of Thyatira is still in effect today since the last seven years are the time of Great Tribulation.
Revelation 2:18-22: And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19: I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. 20: Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21: And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
Revelation 22: Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
The Lord is drawing from historical Jezebel and Ahab’s false worship of Baal and how she “killed the prophets of God.” Therefore, if the houses of God become involved in false worship, Great Tribulation will come to the fallen houses of God.
1 Kings 16:30-33: And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. 31: And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. 32: And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. 33: And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
False Worship produces a hate for the truth and famine in the land–Samaria is the example.
1Kings 18:2-4: And Elijah went to shew himself unto Ahab. And there was a sore famine in Samaria. 3: And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. (Now Obadiah feared the LORD greatly: 4: For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)
God sends a famine in the land of the hearing of His Word–Compare to Samaria:
Amos 8:11-14: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. 13: In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. 14: They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beersheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again.
The Reversal Comes when God is Magnified
In Joel 2, God promises that He will remove the Northern, and God will be the One who is magnified. I am finding that God has really concentrated much detail of prophecy within these final seven years. Even the glory of Moab being contemned or despised has a time frame of “within three years.” The glory of Kedar failing is within another year. God is using past history of Moab and Kedar to show how the glory of the fallen houses of God will come in the next coming years.
So what about Nehemiah’s wall? Will the Lord wait until we mirror the period of the rebuilding of the wall? We know that Nehemiah was allowed to leave his duties as the King’s cupbearer to go into Jerusalem and assess the damages and to begin rebuilding the wall. The completion of the wall only took 52 days. There is something I have been studying which makes me think that God will perform a “short work” or short word (logos) due to the evil thoughts of Satan. What am I speaking of?
Unwalled Villages–“Gog” Knows when God’s Houses Dwell Safely: The Spiritual Possibilities of the Protection of the Walls
Ezekiel 38:1: And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2: Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3: And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4: And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
In the book of Ezekiel, God speaks of a time in the latter years where “Gog,” who is an historical figure and typed as a picture of Satan, thinks an evil thought:
Ezekiel 38:10-12: Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11: And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12: To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land.
Perhaps Satan, who knows and understands “Dark Sayings” or God’s Word, attempts a strike against the houses of God who lay open and unwalled. Perhaps Satan knows of the historical building of Nehemiah’s wall and how waiting for time to pass would place a restriction on his ability to desolate. His evil thought is to destroy. Remember also that God gives a real stern warning of a time when God removes Himself and the protection that was once there is no longer there:
Hosea 9:12: Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!
Satan’s evil thought is to go up against those who dwell safely–all of them dwelling without walls, having neither bars nor gates. Historically, we can know that this language of walls and bars and gates was for the purpose of having “rest” on every side. It was a real sense of security:
2Ch 14:6-7: And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. 7: Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
In Nehemiah’s time, the walls, bars, and gates were repaired in certain areas:
Nehemiah 3:13: The valley gate repaired Hanun, and the inhabitants of Zanoah; they built it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and a thousand cubits on the wall unto the dung gate.
The Earth is at Rest and quite – Is this “quite” Idleness?
When Satan comes against those who dwell in unwalled villages (also a picture of Haman seeking to destroy the Jews in the book of Esther), he comes against those who are at rest. The Jews had victory over the evil which came against their unwalled towns, but only because God performed a great reversal through the work of Mordecai and Esther.
Esther 9:19: Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.
There are a couple verses which mention this same word for “quite.” In one verse this “quite” is after the 70-year captivity of Israel. In another verse, the idleness or quietness of Sodom is a picture of the fallen houses of God since God refers to “Mystery Babylon” as Sodom and Egypt.
Ezekiel 16:49: Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
The 70-years relate to the 8,400 days. Is the world “quite” or idle after the grand announcement of Christ coming in 2011? Have the houses of God (Sodom and Egypt) become “quite” or idle after the year 2011?
Zechariah 1:11-13: And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. 12: Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years? 13: And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.
We know the good and comfortable words have everything to do with God prospering His salvation plan in the final years. However, that does not change Satan’s evil thought to come up against those who dwell safely and are at rest/quite/idle. God must intervene. When God intervenes there is a great shaking in the land and the nations will know.
Satan (Gog) comes against God’s Land
Ezekiel 38:14-16: Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 15: And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 16: And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
Since we are in the mirror of the 2nd year of Darius (Nisan 2013 to Nisan 2014), should we be concerned about the timeline of Nehemiah’s wall being rebuilt in 52 days and years later? Yes and no. Yes, because historically it was a picture of the protection God provides with His salvation plan. I would however suggest no also in regards to any extra years past the final seven years because of the evil thought in which Satan (pictured as historical Gog) comes up against the houses of God which dwell without gates. Thus, God will perform His short work of salvation.
There is a very real spiritual truth concerning salvation itself being the walls of the strong city. Furthermore, we know that God will perform a short work (Logos) on earth. So then, many years past the 6th year of Darius may not even be realized. The following verses speak of God’s short work and also the spiritual aspect of what the walls represent:
Romans 9:28: For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
In the book of Daniel, righteousness is also mentioned and also the command to “know therefore.” We are to know that righteousness will be victorious and the street and the wall will be built even in troubled times. We are now living in the troubled time of the last seven years of great affliction where Christ told us to pray that our flight be not during this time. The flight being the fleeing out of the fallen houses of God where desolation has come. Yet, even during the troubled time, God is building His wall of salvation.
The Spiritual Wall of Salvation
Psalm 51:15-18: O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16: For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. 18: Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Isaiah 60:18: Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
Zechariah 2:4-5: And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein: 5: For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
Isaiah 26:1-4: In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks. 2: Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. 3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. 4: Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
Isaiah 26:5: For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
If Nehemiah and associates built the wall in 52 days, what will God do during His Short Work (Logos) as the gospel goes forth into all the world?
Ezra – The Teacher of Statutes and Judgments
Much like Nehemiah, the historical actions of Ezra play an incredible role for the time of the end. If fact, the very act of God placing His Spirit inside a new believer in Jesus makes the new believer aware of His statutes and judgments. Ezra was commanded by King Artaxerxes to go to Jerusalem and teach the people God’s statutes and judgments. These statutes and judgments relate to life and salvation. First is the history lesson of Ezra traveling to Jerusalem:
Ezra 7:8-10: And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. 9: For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him. 10: For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
Malachi 4:4-6: Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. 5: Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: 6: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Ezekiel 36:24-28: For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. 25: Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. 26: A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27: And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28: And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Psalm 147:19-20: He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20: He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
As Nehemiah (20th yr. of Artaxerxes) built the wall in 52 days, it was the larger picture of God building the wall of Salvation in the final years as it is proclaimed to be a short work or short Word (Logos). What is the end result of God’s action and protection? Many will experience salvation worldwide prior to Christ’s return in power and great glory.
As Ezra went to Jerusalem in the 7th year of Artaxerxes to teach statutes and judgments, so to in the final years will God place His Spirit upon people and cause them to walk in His statutes and judgments.
I would like to close this study with the example of the honesty of Nehemiah as he openly admitted the error of not keeping God’s statutes and judgments and the result of the punishment of scattering.
Nehemiah 1:5-9: And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: 6: Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned. 7: We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses. 8: Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: 9: But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
God gave His statutes and judgments to Moses so the Israelites may enter into the land He promised and live!
Deut. 5:31-33: But as for thee, stand thou here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it. 32: Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. 33: Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
And to life, which Christ gives more abundantly, I say Amen!
